AFTERMATH. Topographical imprints of France’s forgotten refugee camp Grande-Synthe. Dunkirk, France, March 2016
Taken just after the last refugees left France’s forgotten refugee camp Grande-Synthe. Dunkirk, France, March 2016. Rather then focusing on the more traditional way of reportage documentation, I found myself drawn to the natural geographic tragedy that was forming under foot. This semi fluid material – mud - having become impregnated with memories and artefacts from what has become known as Europe’s failure to deal with the worst migrant crisis since World War Two, these imprints, become a testament to an atrocity that should never have happened.
